Changes to Colors, Scents, Flavors, Kits and Collections reporting
Significant improvements were made to the California Safe Cosmetics Program online reporting system on 12/30/2010. These changes impact how Color, Scent, Flavor, Kit and Collection information is submitted by users and stored in our database as follows:
* Users can now submit Color-Scent-Flavor combinations for a product;
* Kits and Collections can be assigned to either the base formulation or Color-Scent-Flavor combinations.
For more details, please review the online instructions (PDF)
We recommend that reporting companies review existing product submissions to become familiar with the revised format and ensure accuracy of previously-reported data. Problems or suggestions can be reported to the California Safe Cosmetics Program at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Updated 2010 CSCP Chemical List
The CA Safe Cosmetics Program (CSCP) has identified twelve additional chemicals that meet the burden of proof required for mandatory reporting under the CA Safe Cosmetic Act of 2005. These twelve chemicals are newly listed on the 2010 CSCP Chemical List:
- Bisphenol A (BPA)
- Bromochloroacetic acid
- 1,3-Dichloro-2-propanol (1,3-DCP)
- Ethyl-tert-butyl ether
- Metam Potassium
- Methyl Isocyanate (MIC)
- 3-Monochloropropane-1,2-diol (3-MCPD)
- Tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME)
To assist companies with reporting under the California Safe Cosmetics Act, CSCP has compiled a list of chemicals known or suspected to be carcinogens, reproductive toxicants, or developmental toxicants. More information about the CSCP Chemical List, and the list itself, can be found on our Cosmetics Companies Page.
